Claude E. Alward of RR 1, Kingman age 84 died Tuesday night August 5 in the VA Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He was born at Kingman March 18, 1896 the son of Timothy and Abigail Wilkinson Alward. In 1924, he married Helen Duchene, who survives. He was a retired mail clerk of US Railway Express. A veteran of WWI he was a member of the Masonic & Odd Fellows Lodges at Kingman; Fountain County Historical Society; Crawfordsville American Legion Post and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Renzetti of Reston, Va and Mrs. Claudine Deer of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Newnum of Kingman and Mrs Irene Delp of Marshall; and 3 granddaughters. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Woodrow Funeral Home, Kingman with Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating. Burial in Zackmire Cemetery east of Kingman.
